About Us

Poole Lighting Ltd was established in the early 1980s and now operates as part of the National Lighting Company Ltd group, which is the largest provider of domestic lighting to UK national account and independent retailers.

We employ approximately 80 staff and operate from two sites in Dorset on the South coast of the UK. Our head office is in Poole and includes Design, New Product Implementation, Supply Chain Management, Finance and Administration and Technical/Quality Control functions.

We work closely with our customers to design bespoke products, which are manufactured to our specification in the Far East. We have an 80,000 square feet warehouse facility in Christchurch where we use a radio frequency Warehouse Management System (WMS) to despatch goods to national account retailers across the UK.

We operate a factory outlet along with a full customer service facility for consumers of our products at our head office site in Poole.

Competition Law Statement

The Boards of National Lighting Company Ltd (NLC) and Poole Lighting Ltd (Poole) are committed to ensuring that Poole and its employees comply at all times with competition law.

Poole has a competition compliance program in place to ensure that the NLC and Poole Boards’ objectives can be achieved. The Boards will ensure that they monitor Poole’s adherence to the competition compliance program and that it is addressed at regular NLC and Poole Board meetings.

Please address any queries about Poole's competition compliance program to Sue Baker, the Nominated Officer for Poole.

CMA Investigation Press Release

NLC is pleased to confirm the conclusion of its discussions with the CMA. NLC accepts the CMA’s findings, and acknowledges undertaking certain practices which breached competition law. NLC ceased these practices as soon as the CMA opened its investigation.

The past practices of NLC were never aimed at harming consumers but merely sought to protect its bricks and mortar customers from the significant damage being done to them by the free riding of certain internet resellers.

NLC is excited about its future, and going forward intends to work with best in class retailers, be they bricks and mortar, internet or both to design, develop and supply industry leading lighting products that our customers want, trust and value.

Having put in place its own market leading compliance program NLC calls on the CMA to ensure, through its ongoing work within the lighting industry, the creation of a level playing field for all suppliers. It is evident that efforts to influence resale prices remain widespread and other companies will have to comply with the law or face significant fines.
